Description

A press photograph of Mary Foy (1862-1962), Los Angeles, dated 16 August 1921. The image shows the subject in a head-and-shoulder shot and she has on dark clothing and a head scarf. Her name and state is typed on the reverse and it is likely the image was taken as part of her membership in the Democratic National Committee. Foy was the first female chief librarian for the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) in 1880, however, she was asked to resign four year later. She was also involved in the Suffragette movement. With small edge tears and creases, light soiling and minor rubbing, the overall condition is good.
