Description

A press photograph of the beach at Venice, California, 1 August 1929. Taken, it appears, from the pier, the view shows the sand thronged with huge crowds, many umbrellas, and some persons in the water. Portions of structures are also in view off the shoreline. A typed pasted-down caption on the reverse noted that the crowds included many attending the national convention of the Elks fraternal order, held in Los Angeles. With some pencil markings and a N.E.A. date stamp, as well as a missing piece from the bottom, warping, an edge tear, soiling and abrasion, the overall condition is good.
