Description

A press photograph of the interior of a Los Angeles tailor shop allegedly connected to the Julian Petroleum scandal, 6 November 1928. The view shows a man in a vest, trousers, dress shirt and tie working at a broad table. In the back is a cage office, on which is a calendar opened to October 1928. A water cooler is near a door and clothes hang on a rack at the left next to a staircase. A typed pasted-down caption noted that the shop is "where the grand jury contents that 'deals' were made whereby Julian Petroleum defendants 'arranged' with District Attorney Asa Keyes for their freedom." With other markings and a date stamp, as well as some stains, a very small missing piece at the top left corner, soiling, creases and edge rubbing, the overall condition is good.
