A program for the 46th national encampment, Grand Army of the Republic, Los Angeles, 9-14 September 1912. The item has a welcome from Los Angeles businessman and politician H. Z. Osborne, a list of the organization's officers and that of the National Association of Army Nurses of the Civil War, Woman's Relief Corps, Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic, Daughters of Veterans, National Association of Naval Veterans, Natioonal Association of Union Ex-Prisoners of War, and National Association of Civil War Musicians. Information on the history of the G.A.R., lists of past presidents and encampments and the program for the week, including excursions to Pasadena and Santa Monica and a downtown parade, are also of note. Descriptions of Los Angeles and environs and photographs of local sites are found, as well. Pasted down on the inside of the wrappers are a news article about a 102-year old deceased veteran, part of the program, and a ribbon listing members of G.A.R. post in Pasadena in 1935. With many stains, soiling, creases, tears and other wear to the wrappers, and most pages clean with some having stains and soiling, especially the last where it has tape damage from the inside back cover, the overall condition is poor.Lexicon
