Description

A program for "The Mission Play," 1928. The front cover has an illustration of the cream colored Mission San Gabriel, the play's title in red, and an arch in the foreground which is covered in a tangle of brown vines dotted with purple grapes and green leaves. The program contains an article about the Mission Playhouse, synopses regarding the play, and poems written by author John Steven McGroarty. Black and white photographs of the Mission San Gabriel, the playhouse, and scenes from the production are also shown throughout the program. The cover and inside pages have become detached from each other. There was a nonprofessional attempt to repair the cover with adhesive tape. A suggestive inscription has been written inside the cover followed by a list of names, including Domina Vigare. With minor tears, two moderate tears, minor creases, and minor discoloration, the object is in good to fair condition overall.
