Description

A program for the Star and Crescent Literary Society, Los Angeles High School, 29 April 1898. The two-part event included society reports, music, recitation, an address, and a "tableaux" about "The Story of Cuba," including subsections about that island's oppression by Spain, its "appeal to justice" and its freedom with "Uncle Sam's interference." The last page lists officers, committee members, actors in the "tableaux," and musicians. The front cover has a color image of the American flag and the wartime slogan "Remember the Maine." With creases, edge rubbing and some soiling, the overall condition is good.
