Description
A real photographic postcard, Bella Vista Terrace, Sierra Madre, California, ca. 1910. The apartment complex was owned by developer F.B. Lewis and created by the architect, Irving J. Gill. In view is the courtyard, community gardens and pergola. Irving Gill's intent was to create residences that could serve and accomodate the working class families. The complex was also popular among the vacationing Hollywood elite and actors of the day. There is a lengthy message written on the back of the postcard, though it was never mailed. On the front of the postcard, bottom edge is the name of C.H. Cannon written in and identified as the owner, and F.B. Lewis' name scratched out. With discoloration, light abrasion damage along the edge. It is in good condition.
