A real photo postcard, Avalon, Santa Catalina Island, ca. 1910s. Taken from the hills to the east, the view takes in the waterfront, some of the interior and the hills and rocky promontories to the west. Two piers jut out into the water, watercraft are anchored in the shallow bay, a steamer pulls in from the mainland at right, and portions of houses, hotels and commercial structures are in view, as is the Holly Hill House, a Victorian mansion at the lower right. With foxing stains across the top of the photo and a bit on the reverse, soiling, silvering and rubbing, the overall condition is fair.
