Description
A real photo postcard, "Big Bear Lake and Dam," Putnam Studio, Los Angeles, dated 22 Augusat 1929. The view is taken from just above the dam, which is at the lower right and which has a paved road, now Highway 18, going across it. A few cabins dot the pine-covered rocky hillsides at the upper right. To the center and left is the lake extending to the east. The highway has only within the last year or two been widened from what is viewed in the image. A message from the Pine Knot post office in what is now Big Bear City is on the reverse and a pen "x" marks where the sender's home was located. With minor soiling, fading, yellowing, and edge abrasions, but the overall condition is good.
