Description
A real photo postcard, "Castle La Crescenta," B. D. Jackson, 1908. The image shows much of the distinctive stone structure nestled at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains and surrounded by many trees and other landscaping. The title, date and photographer's name are printed at the bottom. A message describes a trip to the mountains and the profusion of flowers and orange blossoms. The house, which sat on 185 acres near Pickens Canyon in La Crescenta, was built by Eugene H. and May Gould after European examples, but the family did not long retain it. The property was subdivided in the 1950s and the house razed. Despite the minor silvering, soiling, and abrasion damage, the condition is good.
