Description

A real photo postcard, "Mt. Wilson Hotel. Altitude 5886 feet," E. B. Gray, dated 13 August 1910. The view is taken from an elevated position and shows several persons standing near the two open doors with signs marked "OFFICE" (left) and "POST OFFICE" near them. To the right is a covered patio area with deck chairs on it and there is a balcony on the roof level above. A stone chinmey is at the left and four other chimneys, a flue stack are also of note. Surrounding the hostelry are pine and other trees. The hotel was built in 1906. The hotel burned seven years later and a successor lasted until 1966. A message on the reverse is dated and there are postage, postmark and cancellation stamps, as well. With soiling, staining on the reverse, and edge abrasions, the overall condition is good.
