Description

A real photo postcard of a row of men at a Los Angeles parade, ca. 1910s. The group is several dozen perhaps in size and stands at attention on the street. They wear shirts with detachable collars, bow ties and light-colored trousers, as well as identical hats with insignias. A man at the left has a comical hat, fake nose and mustache and holds a small white parasol while he sits on a horse with a floral-decorated cover on the back reading "U.S. Mail," so the men may be mail carriers. Another man holds a flag that is blurred from movement. A nearby billboard gives an address of the 700 block of South Spring Street and portions of other commercial structures on the east side of the street are in view, as well as bleachers filled with spectators between buildings. The event may be a La Fiesta de Los Angeles parade. The postally unused card has an AZO stamp box, dating the card to between 1907 and 1915. With moderate fading and minor soiling, the condition is good.
