2012.703.1.1Description
A real photo postcard of a woman and two children with an ostrich at the Los Angeles Ostrich Farm, 18 December 1913. The women, dressed in a dark dress, jacket, blouse and hat stands next to the two children, dressed in what appears identical black outfits, sitting on the animal, with one of the children holding a bridle which is around the bird's beak. The trio are in a fenced enclosure at the facility near Lincoln Park in Lincoln Heights. In pencil on the reverse is the date and location, while ink at the bottom left is "Aunt Alta," referring, evidently, to the woman. With slight losses at the bottom, trimmed corners, and light soiling, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
