Description
A real photo postcard of actor Hanley Stafford, Joseph H. Lamson, Tujunga, California, 1926. The image shows the British performer (born Alfred J. Austin) in costume as James Marshall, discoverer of the gold that launched the famous California gold rush, in a play or film called El Dorado. It may be that Stafford, who came to Los Angeles in 1924, acted in the Mission Play as the other photos in this accession are related to that work. With album paper residue and light soiling, the condition is good.
