Description
A real photo postcard of an architectural drawing by Charles H. Kyson, Los Angeles, ca. 1920s. The view appears to be of a watercolor of a one-story house with a courtyard, trellis along the front elevation and surrounding landscaping and hills. The architect's name and phone number are at the bottom left, with the number 1 in a circle, perhaps indicating a series, at the bottom right. Kyson was born Charles H. Kysor and was the son of pioneering Los Angeles architect Ezra Kysor, who is said to have designed the remodeled Workman House and did other prominent 1870s buildings like the Pico House, Merced Theater, and St. Vibiana's Cathedral. The younger man worked with his father and then on his own and changed his last name to avoid identification with Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany during World War I. With small stains on the reverse, soiling and edge abrasions, the overall condition is good.
