Description
A real photo postcard of aviator Archibald Hoxsey before taking off with his aircraft, Los Angeles, 31 December 1910. The image shows the pilot at the left and dressed in his flight outfit shaking hands with a man at the right at the plane. Hoxsey, who held the altitude record at the time, sought to break that record but crashed from 7,000 feet and was killed. An ink inscription is on the bottom margin. The postally unused card has light soiling and slight warping and is in good condition.
