Description

A real photo postcard of California Lutheran Hospital, Los Angeles, ca. late 1920s. The nine-story brick building with perpendicular wings and a cupola-topped tower is likely shown upon or soon after its opening in 1926. Some palm trees and automobiles are in front of the structure, which stood at 1414 S. Hope St. until the 1994 earthquake led to its closure and it was demolished six years later. Now known as Dignity Health Hospital, the facility operates at a site at 1401 S. Grand Ave. The unused card has some light soiling, minor yellowing and moderate rubbing and is in good overall condition.
