Description

A real photo postcard of guests served lunch outdoors at Silver Peak Guest Ranch, Walnut, California, ca. 1920s. The scene appears to be taken from a porch at the guest house and looks over a lawn area where there is a long table, at which guests are seated and being served by a waiter. Some trees, the lawn, potted plants and other landscape elements are also in view. At the bottom in white is the inscription: "Silver Peak Guest Ranch / Walnut, California." The resort was opened as early as 1920 and was sold by a bank to the Claretian Brothers religious order in early 1934 with the intent to be used as a junior seminary. With a small crease at the upper right corner, moderate darkening to the image, some mirroring on the bottom left, minor soiling and abrasions along the edge, the overall condition is good to fair.
