Description
A real photo postcard of the earthquake-damaged Inglewood School, 21 June 1920. In view is the front and the right elevation of the two-story structure, which has collapsed parapets, cracks throughout and other damage. Of note is the wide and deep entrance stairway and some landscaping near the street. The 4.9 earthquake led to the identification of the Newport-Inglewood fault and raised alarms about poor construction of buildings in the event of quakes. The unused card has a white line, inherent to the image at the bottom margin, soiling, minor edge abrasion and light creases and is in good overall condition.
