2012.702.1.1Description
A real photo postcard of the George Frank Morley house, Los Angeles, dated 5 June 1913. The large two-story Craftsman-style residence had a turreted corner room over the wide front entrance, which is off a full porch; a port cochere to the left with the garage at the back of the lot and pillars of stone and dual wood posts, among other details. The small trees and plants, lawn, and walks give the appearance of a newly-constructed house, which was later razed in favor of an apartment complex. The house name, street and city are in ink at the top, while the address of 535 [South] Gramercy Place, is with a message on the reverse to the MacCorkell family, whose daughter the Morley's son, Guy, married. With some soiling and abrasion, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
