2013.1031.1.1Description
A real photo postcard of the Silver Peak Guest Ranch house, Diamond Bar, California, ca. 1920s. The view shows an elevation of the one-story structure, with vine-covered walls, a bay window, and a patio cover under which is an umbrella-shaded table. A bench, some lawn chairs, walks, cypress trees and other landscape are also of note. The ranch, located in a corner of Diamond Bar within Rancho La Puente, was off today's Golden Springs Road west of Lemon Street. It was built by George W. Chessman and named for Nevada mines he owned. It operated from about 1915 to the early 1930s and later was a school, Claretian seminary, a resort again, a substance abuse rehab facility, and a church before it was razed in the 1960s. With light fading at the bottom, the condition is good.Lexicon
