Description

A real photo postcard portrait of a man and wife, Los Angeles, 16 September 1906. The couple are posed with an orange tree or trees with the man standing at right wearing a dark three-piece suit, white shirt and dark tie and holding a straw hat full of fruit and the woman apparently sitting on a ladder and wearing a dark skirt, white blouse and wide-brimmed straw hat and holding an orange in her right hand while her left clasps a piece of fruit on the tree. There is a message from the Hotel Germain in a foreign language on the reverse, while one in English on the fruit discusses sending fruit to St. Louis but not for what appear to be Jewish holidays, given the surname is Solomon. The card was not mailed, however, and with slight soiling and minor rubbing, moderate yellowing and silvering at the bottom, the overall condition is fair.
