Description
A real photo postcard, "Ramona's Home, San Gabriel Mission, Calif.," ca. 1920s. The adobe house has a second story wood addition and two-gabled roof, with a rough wooden sign hanging from a wood arbor that identifies the structure as "Ramona's Home." There is a building next to a wall and arched entrance with a belfry for "The Old Grape Vine," these being in front of the newly-completed Mission Playhouse, the top of which is behind the house. The fictional character Ramona from the 1880s novel by Helen Hunt Jackson was said to have been born at Mission San Gabriel, hence the labeling of the structure as her house. The unused card has soiling, two small stains at the top left, and moderate rubbing and is in good condition.
