Description
A real photo postcard, "The San Gabriel Mission, Cal.," published by N. H. Reed, Santa Barbara, postmarked 24 December 1908. The image is taken from perhaps a couple of hundred feet or so to the south near the railroad tracks and takes in most of the south elevation of the old church, the belfry and a small portion of the adobe rectory. Two horses graze at the left and a horse and carriage is parked at the right. The title is in gold letters towards the bottom. A New Year's greeting is the message on the reverse and the card has a stamp, postmark, cancellation and a Pennsylvania addressee. With a creased corner, edge browning and abrasions, and some soiling, the general condition is good.
