Description
A real photographic postcard, filling sand bags at the beach, possibly Venice Beach, ca. 1910. There are groups of men filling burlap sacks with sand on the beach. They are creating a ditch and sand bag retaining wall against the street. The pier is partially visible in the background, mostly covered by fog. Spectators have gathered on the boardwalk to watch the progress. The postcard includes a noko postage stamp box. The item is in good condition despite the minor mirroring, fading and warping.
