Description
A real photographic postcard of a record mountain climber on Inspiration Rock, Mt. Wilson, San Gabriel Mountains, 7 July 1907. Depicted is J. C. Wright of Riverside, who beat the record of climbing up the nine miles of Mt. Wilson in 1 hour and 54 minutes beating the previous record by five minutes. He did the descent trip in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Wright inscribed the bottom of the photograph with a description of his times. Wright also appears in the 30 April 1908 issue of the "Los Angeles Herald," as the winner of the race, once again. The postcard includes a postage stamp. With moderate fading, soiling and warping, the object is in fair condition.
