Description
A real photographic postcard of a San Gabriel Mountains campsite, 20 August 1909. A row of A-frame tents with wooden bases is in the middle ground. The flaps have been pulled up to allow air and light into the tents. Several men and women stand outside their tents focusing their attention on a geyser in the foreground. A small mound piled with rocks and enclosed in a low wire fence has a narrow pipe protruding from the middle, from the pipe spouts a strong spray of water. In the background on a higher slope are several other tents. The photograph was taken by Wright M. Pierce, Claremont. The postcard includes a postage stamp and is in good condition with minor silvering around the edges, abrason along the edge and some darkening of the image.
