Description

A real photo postcard, "Santa Fe Springs Oil Fire," ca. 1920s. The item is tinted red and has largely black coloring at the top, right and bottom. There are some power poles and other structures, but it is difficult to discern anything from the image. At the bottom is the title and on the reverse is an ink inscription indicating the fire was fifteen miles away and that it can be seen constantly. After encouraging that it be sent on to the parents of the writer and recipient, though the card was not sent postally, the message concludes, "No danger just hard on the pocketbook of the oil magnates." With some staining, soiling, and abrasions, the overall condition is good.
