A receipt from Newman's store, Los Angeles, to Beatrice DeMille, 1 June 1920. The form has the company name and logo, lists its locations in London and Paris as well as its Los Angeles address and phone, and identifies its main offerings of gowns, blouses, coats, sports clothes, wraps, furs and millinery. Typed on the form are the date, customer's name, address and list of items, including a gown and hat valued at $112.00. At the bottom is a hand-written acknowledgement of payment dated 11 September. Beatrice DeMille was the widowed mother of film director and producer, Cecil B. DeMille. With a stain on the back bleeding to the front, an edge tear at the right, soiling and orignal folds, the condition is fair overall.
