Description

A receipt written by William W. Temple for Francisca Valenzuela, 16 October 1888. The document stated that Valenzuela, the biological mother of Laura Gonzalez (Temple) and who was probably working for Francis W. Temple at the Homestead, received 300 dollars "in full of all demands aagainst the Estate of the said Francis W. Temple, dec[ease]d" from William and his brother John as executors. The document was signed with an "x" by Valenzuela, as illiterate, and by witness Joseph Walter Drown, long associated with the Workman and Temple families, and formerly foreman for Francis at the Homestead. With some stains, smeared ink, folds and light soiling, the condition is good.
