Description

A reprint of a view of Broadway near Fifth Street, Los Angeles, ca. 1900s, C. C. Pierce and Company. The image is taken from the east side of the street looking south from Fifth. Two streetcars, from the Boyle Heights and Downey Avenue (East Los Angeles, later Lincoln Heights) lines, are at the center. Horse-drawn vehicles are also of note, as are a few bicycles. Pedestrians are on the walks and in the street in a couple of cases. Commercial buildings line the street, including the Los Angeles Examiner building at the right. On the reverse is a Pierce stamp from the early 1900s and a pencil inscription noting the Examiner building address and tenants of the adjacent structure. With minor soiling, abrasions, and moderate warping the condition is good overall.
