"A Ride with Kit Carson," from Harper's New Monthly Magazine, 1853. The extracted article contains the twenty-eight page piece by George Brewerton, who accompanied Carson east from Los Angeles in May 1848. Notable in Brewerton's account is a lengthy encampment along Bridge [San Jose] Creek on Rancho La Puente, owing to Carson's long acquaintance with William Workman. Illustrations include one of Los Angeles and one of "Life at Bridge Creek." As disbound and with soiling, stains, edge rubbing and creases, the condition is fair.Lexicon
