Description

A sheet music cabinet produced by The Udell Woodenware Works in Indianapolis, ca. 1910. The cabinet was once owned by Margarita Temple Rowland. It is a solid wood mahogany cabinet with eight interior shelves. The simple cabinet has a carving, decorative element, at the top center of the door and vertical indentations running down both the left and right front edges. The door has two metal hinges on the right side and is closed by a button clasp handle that hooks on the inside. There is a label at bottom center, inside the door, "Guaranteed / The Udell Works / Indianapolis." The legs of the cabinet have been carved to form a wide tip at the bottom. The top is flat with a beveled edge around three sides. The number "615" is stenciled on the back panel. The cabinet is functioning and is in good condition with some minor scratches and scuff marks to the exterior wood. The back panel has some cracks and buckling, but stable. Two small blocks (b & c) measuring three inches wide have become detached, originally nailed into the base to secure the bottom of the cabinet.
