Description
A snapshot of a couple on the beach at Santa Monica, 1924. The man and woman are seated on the sand. They both appear to be wearing wool bathing suits and a lanyard with whistles, suggesting that they are lifeguards.The woman also wears a swimming cap. Behind them is another group of people sitting under large,opened umbrellas. There is a a portion of a building visibile toward the far left of the image. Directly behind the woman, is a tower with a balcony and sign that says private property. Below the balcony is a recepticle that has "WASTE PAPER BOX" printed on its side. The pencil incscription on the reverse indicates that the beach was in Los Angeles, 1924.The photo is in good condition despite having moderate fading, and curled edges.
