A snapshot of a Los Angeles street, ca. 1890s. The view is from the street and looks towards its end with another thoroughare. There are some horse-drawn vehicles parked and in motion on the first street. Across the second is a three-story commercial building that may be the focus of the photograph. At left is part of another commercial structure. The image is pasted down onto a matte, on the reverse of which is printed information for photographic suppliers Howland and Chadwick of Los Angeles. It is unclear whether the firm developed an amateur view from an early Kodak #2 or took the image. With much soiling, dampstains, and rubbing to the matte, but a generally clean image, the overall condition is fair.
