Description

A snapshot of a man on the front steps of the San Gabriel Settlement House, ca. 1920s. The view is taken from an open area near the structure and captures the man seated on the top step of the Mission Revival-style structure with arched porch openings and a bell tower shaped facade with an open arch at the top. Between the front entrance and the upper opening are the words "SAN GABRIEL / SETTLEMENT" in large block letters. The settlement house worked with primarily Mexican immigrants to the community and was given a lot by Walter P. Temple at Broadway and San Gabriel Boulevard in the 1920s, where this building might have been. With some minor soiling and edge abrasions, the condition is good.
