Description
A snapshot of a portion of the Mission San Gabriel belfry from the church roof, ca. 1920s. The photographer stood on the vaulted roof and captured the three bells to the east of the structure, as well as a small part of the church's west wall. A ladder leads to the left alcove and there is a sign on the wall, indicating that there was regular public access to the space. An ink inscription on the reverse reads: "The Old Bells at / San Gabriel Mission." With album paper residue, curvature of the paper, a corner crease, and light soiling, the condition is good.
