Description

A snapshot of the Allen Cooper family in front of their Los Angeles house, ca. 1900s. The view shows Cooper at the left in front of a horse-drawn carriage, in which are his wife and two children, the latter holding the reins. The group is in front of their one-story house with a bay window at the left, porch at the right half and an attic. Cooper's name and address are inscribed on the front and the reverse has a pencil inscription reading "this is our California / Home taken Xmas / 1897 Allen Cooper." Yet, the family was in Elkhart, Indiana in the 1900 census and at this house a decade later, so the period is actually in the 1900s. With stains on the reverse, soiling throughout, heavy warping, a long horizontal crease at the top and abrasions, the overall condition is fair.
