Description

A black and white snapshot of the front of Hotel Rosslyn, Los Angeles, ca. 1900s. Taken from across the street, the view takes in the entrance with the hotel name on a cornice above and most of the three-story structure, including a storefront at the right with the street number of 431 (South Main Street), while the hotel has 437. There are some pedestrians, part of a bicycle, a pole, and what appears to be a trash can. At the bottom of the sheet on which the image was pasted down is the inscription, "Our abode in Los Angeles." On the reverse is part of a photo of a bullfight from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The structure is no longer extant and a parking lot occupies the site now. A new Hotel Rosslyn was built just to the south and was converted to lofts in 2009. With minimal soiling, edge browning and abrasion, the condition is fair.
