Description

A snapshot of two men in front of an elephant pen at Selig Zoo, Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles, ca. 1920. The view shows the same men from image (.5) of the accession standing next to a pipe rail fence bordering the pen and there is an elephant behind them. In the background are some structures that house the animal but may also be from a film set. William Selig moved from his film studio from Edendale (Los Feliz area) to Lincoln Heights in 1917, where he was developing a zoo, but the company soon ceased operations. A post-it note inscription indicates that this and other photos in the accession were from an "abandoned movie set at Selig." The man here may be a Mr. Hummel. With fragments of album mounting corners and some soiling, the overall condition is good.
