Description
A snapshot of two pastry chefs, California Hospital, Los Angeles, ca. 1910s. The view shows Mr. Josef (or Joseph) and his compatriot standing next to succulents in the garden near the multi-story hospital building at 1414 S. Hope Street, a wooden structure replaced by brick buildings in the 1920s. The hospital now operates at a Grand Avenue address nearby. Pencil and pen inscriptions on the back identify the one chef and the location. With a missing lower right corner, soiling and rubbing, the overall condition is fair.
