Description

A snapshot photograph of a portion of Hill Street, Los Angeles, 1920. The image takes in several buildings on one side of the downtown thoroughfare, including a two-story structure at the right with a shoe store and real estate office; the one-story Stillwell Cafeteria, the College Theatre, and part of a larger five or six-story building at the far left. A few cars and tricks are parked along the curbs and there are some pedestrians on the sidewalk. On the reverse is an ink inscription reading: "1920, Los Angeles / Dad - first day in Calif." With some ink stains on the margins, soiling and edge abrasions, the condition is good.
