Description
A souvenir program for the Hemet-San Jacinto Ramona Pageant, 1928. The item includes a Ramona poem; a foreword; the "historic ground" of the pageant story; the pageant's origins and its 1923 opening; the program; a synopsis of the play; photos of main actor Victor Jory as Alessandro (Jory later became a successful film and stage actor). There is also information about the cast, Garnet Holme who adapted the pageant from the famed novel; a "directory of landmarks"; and more. There is also an essay about Soboba Hot Springs and an image of a Tepee-shaped hotel room there, from which Walter Temple built a copy for his home office at La Casa Nueva the previous year, 1927. The seller did not protect the item from the adhesive in the mailing envelope, so there is a vertical abrasion and tear on the front cover from that damage. Otherwise with some edge rubbing, creases and soiling on the wrappers and clean pages, the condition is now poor.
