Description

A stereoscopic photograph, "13531—Where 16,000 Pigeons Live in Constant Peace, Los Angeles, Cal., U.S.A.," Keystone View Company, copyright 1903. There are a multitude of pigeons on the roof, in cotes and elsewhere on a wooden gabled structure as well as on cotes on the ground nearby at the facility, which was along the Los Angeles River north of Elysian Park near the confluence with the Arroyo Seco. On the reverse is text about the farm and specifically the living arrangements for the birds. The pigeon farm was inundated by the flood of 1916 and was closed. With minimal soiling and edge abrasions, the condition is good.
