A stereoscopic photograph, "169. Commercial St.," Los Angeles, Henry T. Payne, ca. 1872. The view is from about where the Los Angeles and San Pedro Railroad depot was situated on Alameda Street looking west on Commercial towards its terminus at Main Street. The thoroughfare is lined with commercial structures, many of them recent multi-story additions. On the reverse is a contemporary stamp from Samuel Hellman, stationery and book seller. With significant soiling and staining, as well as edge rubbing, the condition is fair.
