Description

"34864. A Petroleum Field," Keystone View Company, ca. 1920s. The image shows a row of five steel storage tanks in a depression to gather accidentally spilled oil in a field without derricks, though an electrical tower is nearby and buildings and landscaping are in the distance.. On the reverse is an essay for the company's "Georgraphic Units" series describing the scene as being "in the Los Angeles field," and discussing the petroleum industry broadly and it is to accompany item 29246 (see 2012.723.1.1 of the collection for this view). With curvature of the mount, light soiling and very minor edge rubbing, the condition is good.
