Description
A stereoscopic photograph "Century Plant, Fan Palm, Rubber Tree & Pampas Grass," attributed to Ellis and Son, Los Angeles, ca. 1885. The view shows the several described plants and trees, with the century plant in the foreground next to a wide driveway or walkway and the others in a large lawn area in the background. It is possible this was taken at the Longstreet estate on Adams Street, which had a renowned garden and which was photographed extensively by Ellis and Son. On the reverse is an original ink inscription with the title and a later pencil marking identifying the photographer. With a couple of small stains, soiling and edge abrasion, the overall condition is good.
