Description
A stereoscopic photograph of a view from Sierra Madre Villa, A. C. Varela, ca. 1878. The image is taken from the porch of the resort hotel at the base of the then-Sierra Madre, now San Gabriel, Mountains in today's northeast Pasadena and looks out over a portion of the San Gabriel Valley to the south. A child on a tricycle is on the porch, but no other details of the structure are in evidence. With heavy fading, substantial soiling, and edge abrasions, the condition is fair.
