Description
A stereoscopic photograph of the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles, ca. 1921. The image taken from the wide driveway coming in from Wilshire Boulevard shows most of the hotel's main block and a wing from the entrance with cars parked in front. Typed at the bottom right is "AMBASSADOR HOTEL. 600 ROOMS," with the year 1920 written to the left and, at the left margin, "taken opening day - or very soon there after." On the reverse is "we were there on opening day but can't say if this picture was taken on that day." The formal opening was New Year's Day 1921. The photo was damaged on transit from the seller, including the full crease in the right image and a smaller one toward the center, so that, with browning and soiling, means the condition is poor.
