Description

A stereoscopic photograph, "Picking Oranges, Riverside, California, U.S.A.," Strohmeyer and Wyman, published by Underwood and Underwood, 1898. The view shows several men in a grove with one on a ladder at right and another at ground level at left, appearing to be laborers, with their workers' clothing, while a third man, on a ladder in the foreground left, wears a suit and appears to be picking for the camera. All three men have wooden boxes on straps across their shoulders. In the background are two men dressed in suits and facing each other. Crates of oranges and a few empty are also on the ground in different places. On the reverse is the title in several languages. With some soiling and a few stains on the reverse and moderate abrasions, and minor fading, the condition is good.
